Community Management Summer Intern

At Gidsy we’re engaging with a lot of different people from all around the world every day. As part of the Gidsy community team you’ll be at the epicentre of this exciting ride. As a full time summer intern it’ll be your job to connect with people and listen to what they’ve got to say, help them out if necessary, come up with interesting content, organize online and offline events and in general help building this community.

You‘ll have the chance to be part of a young startup where you’ll help us to shape and improve our ever evolving product.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

• Passionate about listening to our users’ questions and feedback
• Quick to understand the technical ins and outs of our product
• Able to quickly understand a detailed briefing and make independent decisions based on it 
• Internet-savvy, experienced with using Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.
• Enthusiastic about experimenting with new ideas and learning as much as possible
• Native English speaker and proficient in one other language 
• Well-organized, goal-oriented and a team player
• Still a student at a post-secondary institution

Web developer

Gidsy is looking for a web developer who wants to join a fast-paced startup to build great things. As a part of the team, your responsibilities will be to work on new key features, help us scale, contribute to the product and optimize performance. You’ll work closely with our CTO in an agile development environment. The job offers lots of challenges and you’ll get all the benefits of joining a young startup that's aiming high.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

• Someone with 4+ years of experience as a Web Developer
• Very knowledgeable in Cloud Computing (EC2) and/or *nix Administration
• A native in Python and Django (or at least one other web application framework) development
• Experienced in SQL, Nginx, Postgres, Memcache, Chef, Ruby, Unix
• Passionate about Test Driven Development
• Good in teams, and has strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A B.S. in Computer Science or related field
• An active member of the open-source community
