R Kelly's Trapped In The Closet

Here's what's going to happen

On this special day of love, romance and calculated consumerism, we celebrate in the way our Lord Robert Sylvester Kelly would've intended: with a full screening of all 22 chapters of the epic, groundbreaking cinematic work of art: Trapped In The Closet.

If you've never seen this masterpiece of musical masculinity then you'll have the chance to witness the birth of a new genre: the hip-hopera.  If you only know this opus of operatic opulence through the South Park episode then don't miss your opportunity to witness the original in all its glory.  And if you've seen this fine flick of feverish fiream flourishings then you know you need to be here.

And don't pretend like you have anything better to do this night.... otherwise I'm gonna shoot somebody!

Don't believe the rating on IMDB here.

Given the date, your money buys you cheap red wine, ample chocolate and the sultry overtures of this movie (this is a not-for-profit event).

UPDATE: Venue found!  We'll be hosting the showing at The Maker's Loft, courtesy of the good people at Gidsy.  See you then!

  • Katie N. says:

By far the best Valentine's Day I've had. I hope Thom organizes another screening of something equally ridiculous soon. I had a blast.

    R. Kelly had me at "Shit, think. Shit, think. Quick, put me in the closet".

  • Nicolai K. says:

Amazing, slightly weird, experience. Thanks Thom and Gidsy for a night with endless beats, love and free wine-fi.

  • Isabel P. says:

brilliant idea & plenty of wine,
    thanks

  • Chris W. says:

Great crowd, nice space. Refreshments were good too, even though we ran a bit low on wine near the end. But above all, great idea and a rad way to spend Valentine's Day.

  • Jasper M. says:

Wow, this was an epic experience!

I don't know if it was the wine, the chocolate, all the nice people or the ludicrous hip-hopera by R. Kelly, but this event definitely needs a follow-up.

Thank you for organizing this event, Thom!

  • James G. says:
