Policetour Redlight district '1980'

Here's what's going to happen

Every weekend you can "walk the beat" with me, like I used to when I was on duty in the early eighties at the Redlight Precinct in Amsterdam, Bureau Warmoesstraat.  I'll give you all the ins and outs of that particular part of "feel-free Amsterdam".

I'll take you back in time, into the world of drugs, prostitution, gambling and corruption.

Thank you Piet for the nice and interesting tour!

Great tour! Simply because Piet doesn't tell stuff that he read in some book, he actually tells from his own experience when working as a policeman during the 1980s in the Amsterdam Redlight district. I loved his anecdotes, and especially the pictures that he brought to show us what that - nowadays - beautiful part of Amsterdam looked like back in the 80s.

If you're looking for a real, authentic tour on the "Wallen", look no further, Piet's your guy!

This is the real thing. Piet worked as a police officer in one of the most interesting and historic places of Amsterdam. He's an amazing storyteller and has a great memory of many, many, small and big events that happened in that time.

Almost every corner Piet will tell you a great story that you will want to remember and tell to your friends after. I've been living in Amsterdam a large part of my life, but only heard a handful of stories before (and I like stories a lot ).

After the tour I walked back to Central Station and realized that after hearing Piet's stories, this part of the city will probably never be the same again for me.

It really is like doing a walking tour with a living legend.

We had a great day with Piet in Amsterdam! The walk through the city was entertaining, we had great laughs and good beers. Piet is a very good and enthousiastic storyteller and gidsy. We had been in Amsterdam before, but this was definitely one of our best visits. Thank you, piet. We surely recommend you to everyone. Greetings, Gert kornet.

Piet is very good in storytelling. Using modern tools and media, he really brings the 80s back to life. It was a great tour.

It was a great experience walking with Piet at the red light district. All the pictures he showed and the real cop stories of his past made it realy cool. I cannot wait buying his comic book of Precinct Red Light District! Piet's Policetour 1980 highley recommanded!

It was great doing this tour with Piet, who is not only a very passionate tour guide, but also plays the lead character in his own comic book! Piet stories are so unique, crazy and hilarious, that he made a book about it together with Erik Heuvel (just won the Dutch prize for best cartoonist of the year).

Piet took me and my colleagues, back in time, into the world of drugs, prostitution, gambling and corruption, what used to be his daily job. The stories continued during our beer-stops at bars he used to go.

But I don't want to give away too much of the fun :) You should really experience it yourself!

It was great to walk around the red light district with Piet. He taught us a lot about drugs, junkies, the prostitutes, and the different kinds of international generations that influenced the red light district in many ways.

I really enjoyed listening to the anecdotes and underground secrets of the past years, which I would have loved to hear more of!

Saturday last, (28 January, 2012) I attended the Policetour Redlight district '1980' hosted by Piet M.

This tour is a combination of a walk trhough the 'Wallen' area and being showed old pictures (on his iPad) from the 1980's to visualise the old days and seeing what has changed (most for the good).

I really enjoyed the walk. Piet passionately tells about his work as a police officer during the 1980's in this district and knows a lot of anecdotes. The pictures are an added value for visualising how things looked like in the past.

I can recommend this tour not only for visitors but also for locals. You will enjoy this tour!
